GSX Powerboats To Showcase Three 36-Footers In Key West

Unless you attended the Miami International Boat Show in early 2023 or the Florida Powerboat Club Emerald Coast Powerboat Poker Run this summer, you probably haven’t seen the new GSX 36 center console from GSX Powerboats in Dothan, Ala. Outside of speedonthewater.com reports, the GSX 36 has been, for the most part, out of public sight.

The GSX 36 is the latest addition the company’s center console series.

That is about to change as the team and the company is planning to have three 36-footers in Key West, Fla., next week as part of the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run’s land- and water-based displays.

The current plan is for a pair of GSX 36 models to be exhibited in the Florida Powerboat Club Poker Run Village outside the Conch Republic Seafood Restaurant. Another GSX 36 will be in the water at the sponsor docks at the Conch eatery, the club’s longtime host venue for its Saturday evening card-play, awards and celebratory evening banquet.

All three boats will be equipped with 400-hp V-10 outboard engines from Mercury Racing. The GSX 36 models on land will be powered by three 400R outboards, while the one in the water will boast quads.

With the Florida Powerboat Club Key West Poker Run happening next week, the final push is on to get a trio of new 36-foot GSX Powerboats center consoles ready for display.

The GSX 36 is the third offering in the center-console series. Thanks in part to Tom Caruso of Total Marine, a multi-location GSX Powerboats/Glasstream Boats dealer in the Northeast, the Dothan, Ala., boat builder did debut its 32-foot GSX model in mid-July at the Tiki Lee’s Dock Bar Shootout On The River in Maryland. The current GSX line also includes a 28-footer.

GSX Powerboats and Glasstream Boats owner Kruis Retherford and company marketing manager Ashley Strong spent last week as attendees at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show. That left both of them particularly eager to get their own GSX products in front of a live go-fast boating audience for a few days. As is typical with powerboat companies ahead of events, the push to get the final details completed for the center-console trio is on at the GSX facility.

“Key West is a highlight of the events we sponsor each year with the Florida Powerboat Club, and I’m always impressed with the Poker Run Village and the dynamic it brings to the Key West event,” Retherford explained. “The energy surrounding the display and the display itself really sets the Key West Poker Run apart from other events.

“This is a bucket-list trip for so many high-performance powerboating enthusiasts,” she continued. “I’m always proud to be part of this event and help support it.”

In mid-July, GSX unveiled its 32-foot center console at the annual Tiki Lee’s event in Maryland.
